Q:  So what is Gooi?
A:  Gooi is a very special internet-based store that only sells one item a day. Gooi will continue to sell that item until either it sells out, or the 24 hours ends. Should it sell out fast - well then its gone. So you have to move fast. Each night at midnight a new product come online and is available for an unbelievable price for only 24 hours. Beyond this Gooi.co.za is also a community of people who love gadgets and buying cool things they've always wanted but could never afford, until now. And the good news is that we have also added monthly products - for items that you can plan a it better for - also at great prices.


Q:  How does the Monthly Gooi work?
A:  Well, just like the Daily Gooi - but the product will only be listed for the month. So next month that gadget you like this month will not be there any more. So you have to act fast - but not as fast as the Daily Gooi. Normally the products in the Monthly Gooi are products that are higher priced and need a little more planning to buy.


Q:  That's ridiculous. Are you guys insane? Why on earth would you do something so stupid as to sell one thing a day?
A:  We feel that online stores are too bogged down with items. You know what it's like, you go to a major internet department store and unless you know exactly what you want it's near impossible to find something suitable for your 3rd cousin's 65th birthday. And if we were going to just sell one thing for the rest of the company's lifetime we don't think we'd make very much money, so we keep things fresh by selling new things every day.


Q: What is the schedule for new items?
A: We offer a new item every single day. A new product is released each day at one minute past midnight, seven days a week. If a product sells out during its run, a new item will not appear until the next day. You will know if a product is sold out, because the main page says "SOLD OUT" instead of "Buy one".


Q:  So how many products do you sell each day?
A:  Well, it differs from day to day. We may have 100 of a product or only 5 - but you never know when it may sell out - so at THAT price you had better act fast!.


Q:  That sounds an awful lot like impulse buying!?
A:  Gooi really is impulse buying, but at it's best. We're willing to say that. A lot of the stuff we sell you DO NOT NEED - BUT YOU JUST WANT!. Because last time I checked, the things I want (a new plasma tv, swiss army knife and coffee grinder) are much cooler than the things I need (food and water).


Q: Will Gooi ever tell us how many units remain available in a given sale?
A: No. That would spoil the fun.


Q:  What's the deal with shipping?
A:  Unlike most sites we print our shipping prices right on the front page - so you'll never get klapped on the price. There are a number of shipping option you can choose from to ensure your convenience and pocket. You can select PostNet, PO Box, Door to Door, local JHB delivery and even collect from us if you like!


Q:  And how long does shipping usually take?
A:  Well it depends on where you live and what shipping method you chose - so I can't really answer that question except to say that Cape Town is farther away from us than Rivonia, you know?


Q:  Right then - so what happens if I miss out on an item but I really really want one?
A:  Sorry, china - but you gotta get in fast at Gooi. Some items sell out before 1am, others don't sell out at all - but either way, you have to be there for the sale. We do not sell any items under the counter - and when the sign says "SOLD OUT", we mean it. But is you miss a Daily Gooi - you can always buy a Monthly Gooi! : )


Q: How do I find out what's available each day?
A: Right now there's three ways to find out:


  1. You can come to the site and see for yourself - that's fairly easy
  2. You can sign up for the daily Gooi - it tells you what's on, shows you a picture and gives you a brief description. And you can always unsubscribe.


Q:  Mmmm. Well, how can I pay for my purchases?
A:  Purchases are paid for by Credit Card or EFT. They are processed by MyGate, whose credit card verification system is 100% safe. The only drawback from this (if you can consider it one) is that you'll need to enter your credit information every time you make a purchase, since we do not store any credit information on the site. Also, unfortunately, cos the banks are so square, you will have to pay full price on the selling price with credit card. So, if you wana avoid that, purchase via an EFT – that’s short for electronic funds transfer, and enjoy a 5% .


Q:  Right, so moving on, what happens if my item sucks? Like, I thought it's be cool but it turns out it's really crappy.
A:  As unlikely as that scenario will probably be as our items are all things that WE really want ourselves. Should it happen we really only have one prepared public statement: "Sorry, we can't help you there". If you don't think you really want something, just don't buy it. But if you think you've got buyer's remorse why not sell it online or in the printed press? You're almost sure to make a profit, as our sales are way under retail.


Q:  But what if the item doesn't just suck? But it's actually broken?
A:  If your item is still within warranty then contact us and together we can figure out how to get your item back to us so that we can give you a refund or replacement. However, if your item is out of warranty then we're really sorry but there's absolutely nothing we can do.


Q:  Okay, let's say I need to talk to someone about Gooi for some reason besides my item sucking, how do I go about THAT then?
A:  We are online in the live online help system - during the week and sometime on weekends. But for really serious questions you're probably better off emailing us. Click the "Contact" section in the menu bar and find the email address that best suits the kind of question you have. However, if you ask a question that was answered here you will probably not be replied to. Sheesh we are big meanies.


Q:  It sounds pretty cool, So why should I join?
A: If you plan to make a few purchases, then join and then you wont need to fill in the forms on your address and so on ever again. Cool!


Q:  Can I get a discount if I buy loads of stuff?
A:  Nah, sorry but the prices are set to make each item seem as attractive as possible.


Q:  Right. Well...anyway, where are you located?
A:  Well, Gooi is located in the greatest city on earth, the city that never sleeps, the big pineapple, the New York of Africa and the city of hijacks. Jozi! (Why live anywhere else)


Q: I'm a wholesaler/retailer/government; can I buy from you in bulk?
A: Nope. What else can I say?
